Frank O’Neill
Christabelle Curmi I was involved in Theatre and Performing arts since 1985, when I joined the theatrical company MASK, where I gained experience in acting technique, voice, and musical theatre. Since then I worked for many theatrical companies in various productions both as actor and singer, including everything from comedies, musicals, operettas and classics. I was also given the role of the soprano-soubrette in Maleth’s last produced operetta “Bajadera” by Emmerich Kalman, and had other different roles in other operettas produced by Maleth and another company, Valletta Dramatic Company. In 1992 had the opportunity and experience to perform in London during the European Multicultural Youth Theatre Festival. This included vast training with foreign tutors. From 1998 till 2004 sang as a high soprano with VOICES choir. In 2003 I had a solo part in an original Maltese musical “Robin Hood” produced by Bronk Productions. In February 2007 I had a singing/dancing role in a locally produced musical “Zeza tal-Flagship” which we did again in November 2008. In March 2007 took part in “Flashback” concert as a soloist and in 2008 in “Welcome to Hollywood” concert. ACTIVITIES: I worked also different form of medium, such as radio and television, as actor and singer. I was involved in local television productions such as “Ahn’Ahna jew M’ahniex” (as a singer), “Sisters”, “Qeghdin Sew”, “Imhabba mill-Gdid”, ”Gideb u Mhabba”, “Sahta fuq Uliedi”, “Ingroppi”, “Nies Bhalna” and “Gheruq” (as an actress). In 2005/06 I was directing an animated song each week, for a children’s television programme called “Bookmark” on Education 22. I sing the song and children animate on my instructions. This was something completely different then doing sit-coms on television and helped me to gain more experience. For two years I trained students aged between 7 to 10 years of age in acting technique, voice and improvisation at Bronk Theatre school. In Summer 2005 I was employed as a singing teacher organizing singing lessons for children aged between 5 and 12 years of age at Razzett tal-Hbiberija. In summer 2008 I worked with Kidstart as a Drama/Music teacher and in the meantime I sing in concerts, wedding Masses and receptions and in other local events. At the moment I teach singing at Stagecoach.
